Butt Joint? See What it Is

Butt Joint? See What it Is

The butt joint is the simplest form of joinery. When the end of a square-cut (90 degrees) piece of lumber (#1) needs to be fastened to the face of another flat board (#2), the (#1) piece plainly "butts" into the face of the other board (#2). Since a butt joint has no real integrity by itself, hardware fasteners must be used sometimes wood glue or building adhesive is needed, as well.

They are used extensively in house framing. Squared end cuts of dimensional framing lumber --- like 2 by 4's, and 2 by 6's for wall framing, and 2 by 8's and 2 by 10's for building floor joist framework --- are butted into face board faces, and fastened with nails or screws.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

When doing wall framing work, the carpenter will nail the butt joints together using a recipe called "toe-nailing", which plainly means nailing straight through the end of a board at a 45 degree angle, tying the two boards together like a "T". Floor joist butt joints normally want the use of "joist hangers", which are zinc plated or galvanized steel brackets, that work like a saddle.

It should be noted that boards joined together with these joints aren't always square cut.

Roof trusses are a good example and trusses ordinarily call for distinct fasteners. Roof truss boards are normally joined together with steel plates that have tiny spikes or "prongs" on them. The steel plates are stamped this way at the factory.

These steel plates are plainly hammered over the whole intersection of the joint, tying the two boards together, and sometimes supplemented with nails or screws.

Smaller versions of these steel plates, used to associate butt joints together on smaller wood projects, are called "mending plates".

Mending plates typically have counter sunk holes in them, for using screws, the mending plate is located over the butt joint, and screwed into place.

How to Cover Exposed Drainage Pipes in a Wardrobe Using Gypsum Boards

How to Cover Exposed Drainage Pipes in a Wardrobe Using Gypsum Boards

Drainage pipes carry effluent from utilities in the home. This pipes sometimes run along walls where they are exposed due to the location of the utilities. The pipes may be exposed in wardrobes, below concrete slab soffits or on floors. Commonly they may run vertically or horizontally in a wardrobe. The wardrobes are constructed after the piping is done. They are then covered for aesthetics with gypsum and a point for inspection allowed for rodding.

Exposed drainage pipes in a wardrobe can be of distinct sizes. This depends on the assistance that the piping is used for. Commonly for bathtubs, showers or wash hand basins, a two inch pipe is used. For lavatories a minimum of four inches pipe is used. The pipes are supported on the wall or concrete surfaces. Commonly wall mounted brackets fasten the pipes to the masonry or concrete. The rodding eye is fixed at the corner before the pipes join the main line.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

The face of the exposed drainage pipe commences with a frame work of mild steel or timber. The timber is in the thickness of two inches. Steel nails are used to fix the timber to the wall or concrete. The size of the pipe will guide the width of the covers. A pipe of two inches gets a cover of six inches, while one for four inches or six inches has a cover of ten inches wide. The suitable width is then measured out and marked for the intended pipe.

A box cover is to be formed inside the wardrobe. This will have two sides made at ninety degrees. The timber railings are fixed along the wall for a pipe running vertically. For a horizontal pipe, the rails are fixed to the ceiling and wall to for a ninety degree. The gypsum is screwed onto the timber. A one foot wide piece of gypsum board for way as a assistance hatch is done for the rodding part. It is then prepared for painting and finished.

modern excellent Motorcycles - The Kawasaki Gpz900R

All straight through the seventies, bike manufacturers, particularly the Japanese giants had been contentious to furnish the most qualified and fastest bikes of the time. 1983 had seen the start of Honda's Vf750F with its revolutionary 90 degree V4 machine sitting in a package that gave unprecedented power and handling for a Japanese bike, and whose roots have extended right up to the gift day.

In 1981, Kawasaki's Gpz1100 put the company right back at the front of the superbike class, and then in 1984 it delivered an practically knockout blow to the competition in the form of the Gpz900R. The fact that the Gpz900R stayed in output for 15 years, and remained at or near the top of the superbike tree for all that time, is testament to significance of this machine.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Introduced at Leguna Seca in December 1983, "Pee Wee" Gleason covered the standing quarter in less than 11 seconds and took the bike to over 150mph, and handled so well that it dominated the output Tt in bog acceptable format. With fully enclosed bodywork was sensational in looks and design, and although there was very itsybitsy revolutionary in terms of parts, it was the first bike to have a liquid cooled, dohc, 16 valve transverse power unit.

The frame was just a tubular steel spine, but without the usual down tubes which saved weight and allowed the use of a fully redesigned box section sub frame made from aluminium. The whole point of the Gpz1100R was to generate an incredibly qualified bike that also handled like a smaller machine and in this it excelled. With anti dive front shocks and monoshock rear suspension, superb brakes and an aerodynamic package resulting in its excellent good looks, the Gpz is in many ways the bike that most superbikes have been fashioned since.

It is testament to the bike that it remained in output longer than two of its replacement models, the Gpz1000Rx and the Zx-10, although towards the end of its life it had lost the hard core superbike image and was regarded as a capable sports-tourer.

History of Women's Shapewear

History of Women's Shapewear

When did the first women's shapewear appear? It is not known but what is known is that throughout time, women have gone through allembracing lengths for fashion in order to accentuate or diminish features of the womanly frame to attract the opposite sex. In Elizabethan times, the goal was to flatten the chest and have a more boyish shape in order to accentuate the waist using iron corsets. In the 17th century whalebone corsets were used to tame the womanly frame.

In the 18th century women whittled their waists down using corsets so heavily tightened that the frame of a woman was reminiscence of the letter "S" with busts forward, a whittled waist and the backside pushed outward accentuated by a bustle. They called this look the wasp waist.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Jumping to the early 1900s, the bra was patented in 1914 and with the invention of Lastex which was latex made into fabric, metal boning and whale bone were discarded from bras and products like the girdle came into being which was used to hold up thigh high stockings and flatten the tummy. A girdle is an elastic undergarment designed to shape and smooth a woman's figure.

Today, most cutting edge girdles are made from a singular item or mix of nylon, Lycra Spandex or Powernet. Garments made from these materials or a blend of them have proven to be some of the most comfortable and durable shapewear that's ever been manufactured. These materials are light and easier to wear and have the ability to contour and shape the body just as well as their predecessors.

Modern girdles are ordinarily classified as "Light-Compression", "Medium-Compression", or "Strong-Compression". The contrast in the degree of control normally indicates the weight or thickness of the girdle material, or the degree to which a girdle is paneled. A Strong -Compression girdle can have a greater number of panels in which the fabric has been doubled or tripled for a construct that has more contour or "control" power. Most of the new girdles are pull-on garments but it is still popular to see girdles that have hooks, snaps and boning reminiscent of the older models. I guess the manufacturers shape if it's not broke... Then don't fix it therefore some models have not changed over time due to customer interrogate and loyalty.

Women's shapewear has taken the world by storm especially since the introduction of Spanx in 1998. The use of compression fabrics consisting of Powernet, Lycra Spandex, and nylon has inspired brands such as Flexees, Body Wrap, Yummie Tummie, Slimpressions and more to carve out a niche for the specific needs of women in the form of shapewear that never existed before. Now there are items that can increase the appearance of breast size, decrease the appearance of breast size, slim the thighs and buttocks, slim the waistline, tame bra bulges and even sacrifice the appearance of excess skin on the arms. Women's shapewear is definitely a trend that is here to stay for some time especially since women are all the time finding for ways to look their best from the inside out.

How to Stop Pain in Your Left Shoulder Blade

How to Stop Pain in Your Left Shoulder Blade

Whether you have pain in your left or right shoulder blade, the cause is likely to be the same. Most shoulder pain is caused by a worn, damaged or irritated and inflamed rotator cuff. Sometimes that irritation can manifest itself as pain in the shoulder, shoulder blade, chest or even upper arm.

Use these techniques to help ease the pain and speed your recovery. They are straightforward stretches designed to help mobility and loosen up your shoulder joint to combat the effects of any inflammation and stiffness.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Before I enumerate the stretches, it's probably also worth mentioning one other great tip: ice. Ice helps sell out swelling and acts as a natural anaesthetic for the pain, numbing the painful areas. Get an ice pack and hold it on the parts of your shoulder blades that hurt for 10-15 minutes, twice a day. Don't apply ice directly to the skin though, all the time wrap it in a towel or something so you don't get frostbite!

Ok, on to the stretches.

1) Rest one hand on the back of a chair for equilibrium and lean transmit at the waist, allowing the other arm to dangle straight down. Keep your back straight and your head up so your spine and neck are in line. Slowly move your dangling arm in small circles, allowing the momentum of the swinging to do most of the work. Slowly build up to larger circles but limit the circles to about 1 foot (30cm or 12 inches) across. Repeat on the other side.

2) Stand facing the chair, and grab the back of the chair with both hands. Now take small steps backwards, keeping your arms straight and keeping on to the chair. You will have to lean forwards to enunciate sense with the chair. Keep going until you are bent forwards 90 degrees from the waist and your arms are parallel to the floor. Now lean into the stretch and push down from your shoulders very gently. Hold for 20-30 seconds and Slowly return to the starting position.

3) Lastly, stand in a door frame. Place your arms out to your sides at shoulder height, palms facing forwards. Now bend your elbows 90 degrees so your hands are pointing at the ceiling. Take a step transmit and place the palms of your hands on the inside of the door frame. Now take an additional one half step forward, or lean through the door frame and feel the stretch on your chest and upper back. Hold for 20-30 seconds and Slowly relax.

Using Raised Planting Beds to Grow Your Own Food Year-Round

Using Raised Planting Beds to Grow Your Own Food Year-Round

I used to think that growing your own food on a year round basis meant having to go out and build or buy a greenhouse, learn all you have to from the greenhouse gardening books and dedicate yourself to being close to home all the time in order to watch over your puny plants and not let them die. I got this impression because I was raised in a farming house that never left home because of the animals or plants.

While you can pretty much automate a greenhouse if you have the budget, you still have to have one to grow your own food, right? Wrong. There are habitancy who are using all kinds of different ways to grow at least some of their own food year round. Some are using highly new innovative ways such as Aero Gardens while others are just getting creative.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

One of those creative avenues is using your raised beds on a year round basis in conjunction with a cold frame or small portable greenhouse on the days the thermometer dips below 45 degrees. Placement of the bed is leading as well as the broad area you live in as this recipe will not be as victorious in Alaska as it will be in Kentucky just due to the extreme elements in Alaska so use tasteless sense before you try this.

What I like about this recipe is that the plants can be exposed to the elements when they are suitable and covered when they are not. Because the greenhouse that is used to cover the planting beds is smaller it takes less heat to maintain the proper temperature inside. That means you do not have to spend in a large heater or incur large heating bills to pull this off.

Two other tips that can of course pay off are; use a tired planting bed so you can plant more is less space and; if you do not want to use a planting bed, try it with containers that are at least 9 to 12 inches deep. Either way, having lettuce and spinach and other of course grown herbs and produce fresh from the yard is a great feeling and worth the effort.

photograph Frames - Make Your Own

photograph Frames - Make Your Own

You can make yourself a photograph frame out of just about anyone that you would like. The accepted way that most habitancy thick of when mental about a photograph frame, would be 4 pieces of wood fastened together to make a square or rectangle.

With a original style of molding profiles, the corners are cut on 45-degree angles. At the joints where the (2) 45 degrees are the wood is glued and has a piece of strengthening wood inserted in the joint its self.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

This is regularly biscuit that is put in with a special tool known as a biscuit cutter that cuts a slot in both sides of the joint areas. The slots are made at the same height from the back and will help in lining up the pieces for that joint. This is done for all 4-corner joints on the frame with this football shaped pieces of wood being inserted.

To make a uncomplicated frame, you can cut your frame size out of a piece of cardboard. Cutting the covering and inside to the size that you need. Try taking this then and covering it with some cloth of any type and pattern that you like. This light frame would be good for any lightweight photograph or print that you may have.

If you need a frame made of one piece, you can use thin plywood and cut it out as you would with the cardboard. This you can glue anyone that you want on it, and it will hold the weight. You can even take this uncomplicated frame and just paint it.

You can make a shadow box type frame with a shallow cardboard box. You can paint or cover this like any of the other frames mentioned. You can use a small wooden type box also. This will hold more weight than the cardboard one. It can be stained instead of painting also. A good smaller box to use for this would be one of the boxes that clementine or mandarin fruit comes in.

If you have the tools to cut metal, you can use this also. anyone from lightweight aluminum to wrote iron would work. Try using a very light gauge copper or any other metal to wrap colse to a solid frame. You will come up with some very nice finding frames this way also.

The best thing about production your own frames is that you can make it any size that you want to. You can even use any kind of material that would suite your frame location also. You can make a one of a kind that no one else has.

Decor Ideas - Recycling Vinyl Records

Decor Ideas - Recycling Vinyl Records

Recycled decor is in right now and there's no medium more popular than crafts made out of vinyl records. You can get any narrative for a dollar a piece at a thrift store and most of the other materials you need can be found in your home! Records are a exquisite way to decorate a vintage-inspired room, media room or are a exquisite way to accessorize a teenager's bedroom. Here are a few neat things you can do with vinyl records.

Record Bookends

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

A friend gave me a pair of these for Christmas and they're so cute! While they can be purchased in a store, they're also very easy to make. All you need to do is get two Lp's and fill your kitchen sink with about three or four inches of boiling water. Then place the narrative in the water and bend it in half at a 90 degree angle. Use a long spoon or spatula to keep the bottom of the narrative flat. Be careful! You don't want to burn yourself. And it's as straightforward as that. Something I would recommend, however, is placing a paperweight on the outside of the narrative when you're using it to hold up heavy books. The pair I have are made from old 45's and they're a exiguous too small and light to hold more than five or six books.

Record Bowl

This is one of the most common ways that habitancy reuse records. I'm sure you've seen them sold in stores and never realized how easy they are to make on your own. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Get a glass bowl that is slightly smaller than the narrative and place the narrative on top of it in the oven. Place a can in the middle of the record. As the vinyl melts the can will shape it into a bowl. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't melt over the sides of the bowl. When the narrative is in the shape you want, take off it and let it cool before touching. Enjoy!

Record Vase

The directions for this task are the same as the bowl with only a exiguous variation. Instead of setting the narrative on a bowl, you'll lie it flat on a cookie sheet and roll it up into the shape of a vase. The hole in the narrative can be used to hang on a wall or front door. If the bottom of your vase doesn't come to a terminated point you can use a hot glue gun to plug the hole.

Record Clock

This task is incredibly simple. All you need to do is take a drill and widen the hole in the middle of the record. Then pop in a clock kit (which can be purchased at any craft store) and you're done! If you want to get more creative with the develop of your clock, click here.

Album Covers as Wall Art:Lp Frame

There's surely no work complex in this. Album art is usually very artistic and it's such a shame that hardly anything sees it. If you have a popular narrative that you don't listen to much anymore you can frame it and use it as wall art. The best part is the frames keep the narrative protected so if you do decided to listen to your narrative again it won't be warped or damaged. You can purchase this Lp frame from Target for around eight dollars.

Record Wall

Lp's are pretty cool seeing even if you don't melt them. Why not use them as a kind of wallpaper? Now they do gather a lot of dust so if you're not prepared for the upkeep or if you find the aesthetic a exiguous too overwhelming, try using them as a ornamental border instead. It's a great idea for a child or teen's room and it's a task they can even help you with, depending on their age. Just use a tape part to evenly space the records and use cease nails to gather each narrative to the wall. Now you have a cool, rock and roll themed room. Try pairing them with a funky paint color that pops like the shade of blue in the photo or like Swimming in our Ocean Inspired paint palette.

Record Mail Organizer

Put narrative in a 200 degree oven on top of a cookie sheet. Once it is malleable, take off it and bend 1/3 of the narrative toward the center, making a taco shape. Then put an oven-safe plate in in the middle of the folded sides of the record. Put in oven for other exiguous or two. take off and let cool. You can then hang it on the wall with the hole in the record. Or, if you keep your mail in the kitchen like I do, you can attach magnets to the back. You can purchase a bag of nickle-sized magnets with adhesive backing at any craft store for less than but you'll need four or five to hold the narrative to the fridge.

Record Flowers

The narrative is the least difficult part of this decoration. Just place two 45's in an oven preheated to 200 degrees. Lay them level on the rack. This will allow them to ripple. Then take some fabric (I used an old blouse but I think felt would be easier) and sew the separate pieces together to generate two stems. For the leaf, sew along the edge of your fabric and pull the thread at the end to cinch your seam. gather the thread and attach your stems to the wall. Attach your records separately by running a cease tack through the record's center. I think felt would generate a cleaner look for the piece but this was all I had at the time.

Thermal Insulation Boards

Thermal Insulation Boards

Thermal Insulation Boards are man-made from dissimilar types of thermal insulating material. They are sheets which have insulating qualities, and are settled into structure where heat loss can be a problem, causing unnecessary thrifty costs.

They are available in many dissimilar sizes, and can be simply cut to fit the desired space, then laid, glued, or fixed into place with the accepted fixings i.e. nails or screws. Insulation boards are made from various insulating materials, and very generally man-made using rigid insulating foam with a thin sheet of reflecting foil adhered to one or both sides.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

The areas of a construction ordinarily requiring thermal boards or similar insulation applications are the roof, floor and exterior walls. They are generally fixed into the construction at the time of construction; however boards are generally not fitted into floors or roofs, and can be applied later on in the structure amelioration if so desired.

In many structure and particularly in the housing sector, solid timber in the form of head rails, studs, and sole plates, as well as intermediate floor joists and trimmers, will ordinarily catalogue for more than 20% of the external exterior area of the building. This means that quite often less than 80% of the construction is truly insulated.

Recent modern methods of construction have seen a rise in the popularity of steel framed structure for commercial and residential developments. This is because the framed panels are constructed off-site and then portable to the location where they are erected.

To reduce heat loss a thermal insulating layer, typically some form of insulating board, is settled on the exterior of the frame to eliminate thermal bridging through the metal studs. This is known as warm frame construction.

There are many dissimilar types of insulation boards and some of these can include:

o    Underfloor

o    Wall

o    Roof & Ceiling

o    exterior wall

o    exterior roof insulation boards & sheets

With today's changing climate, offsetting and minimizing any carbon footprint by saving power is becoming a favorite and essential operation to take.

30 Ways to Display Art and Photos

30 Ways to Display Art and Photos

It's so easy these days to plainly grab a camera or cell phone and snap a photograph of anyone catches your eye. You may have thousands of photos just lying around. And that doesn't count all of your other artwork like paintings and prints. So what is a man to do with all of these treasures that could never be parted with? There are many creative ways to hang and display art, and this description is full of such ideas. It will be hard to pick just a few!

The normal rule of thumb for hanging objects on the wall is to hang them at eye level. They will plainly be more pleasing to look at if you don't have to look way up or down to see them. If you are hanging pieces in a group, think of all of them as one big picture. In these cases it may be easier to cut out scraps of paper the same size as your art and position them on the floor before categorically going for the hammer. (Incidentally, odd numbered groupings all the time look the best.) someone else important consideration is size - make sure the scale of your art matches the size of the wall and furniture. Lastly you will want to think lighting. While objects and pictures do not need to be spotlighted, often times the art will be even more exciting if you focus a beam of light on it. Now that we have the basics of hanging art pieces we can talk about ways to dispose them. Here are some ideas:

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Ways to dispose Your Art on the Wall:

1. Hang several pictures in a row, either horizontally or vertically. You could have just three or as many as you need to fill up your wall. It's a good way to keep your eyes exciting around the room, too.

2. You can also offset them. Take two or more pictures and hang one. Then step the other one down by a few inches. It is sort of like hanging them on a diagonal.

3. Place four similarly shaped objects in a square to create a box shape. If you have six or more you could all the time do a rectangle.

4. Try placing art in a collage on your wall. Find several dissimilar objects such as paintings, photos, and architectural art and mix them up in a pleasing way. Keep them fairly close together and remember the rule of three.

5. Hang photos above a staircase. Echo the shape of your stairs by unbelievable the items up the wall like a set of steps.

6. Arrange your art in themes. If you have a bunch of botanicals, group them all together instead of placing them separately in dissimilar parts of your home.

Ways to Hang and Frame Your Art:

7. Frame your commonplace pictures in a unique way. For example, you could use silk flowers or evergreen garland to surround the piece. plainly glue them to the existing frame and hang.

8. Hang photos or pictures from ribbon or wire. You could even hang multiples together the same way by hanging a rod on the wall and stringing the photos from it on ribbon.

9. Arrange art around a doorway or window. Start at the bottom and go up one side, over the top, and down the other. The pieces should be small and not too busy if you do this.

10. Group pictures together in a collage or one of the other suggested shapes. Then take a piece of molding and build a frame big adequate to surround the whole group and hang it on the wall around the pieces. Or you could just use paint and create a faux frame on the wall.

11. Do you have a landscape photograph of the beach or countryside? think buying some cheap plastic shutters and putting them on either side of the item for a window effect.

Ways to dispose Artwork on Furniture:

12. Look straight through every room in your house and see where you might be able to sit some pictures. Tops of cabinets and dressers work well, as do desks, the top of your Tv, or even near the jacuzzi in the expert bathroom.

13. Do you have a space in the middle of your kitchen cabinets and the ceiling? This is a excellent spot to display some small art.

14. Got a fireplace? Try putting some photos or paintings on the mantle - don't hang them above, just sit them on top. Heighten the photo with a incorporate of well-chosen accessories.

15. If you have a curio cabinet that is not categorically being used for curios, you can all the time put art inside instead.

16. Do you own a piano? The top of an upright, or even a grand piano, is a great place for art items.

17. If your piece of art is relatively large, try sitting it on the floor. Lean it against a wall out of the way of kids, pets, and heavy traffic and watch the smiles you are sure to get.

18. Hang up a shelf, set your pictures on top and lean them against the wall. It is a nice turn from hanging them by a nail.

19. If your décor will allow, put up some chair rail photograph molding. Like regular chair rails, this is installed at around three feet from the ground and is basically a very small shelf that circles your room. Lean art and photos up against the wall and let your treasures surround you.

20. If you are plainly looking for a unique way to display your photos on a table, try a vignette. For example, obtain three portrait photos, a incorporate of your favorite landscape paintings, a tall candlestick and some greenery and dispose them on the tabletop. It will make them seem more important if you group the items together.

Unique Places to Display Art:

21. Hang three or four large pictures in a square or rectangle above your bed for an instant and unique headboard.

22. If the artwork is weather-resistant or can be made to withstand the elements, try hanging a piece or two outside. The front door makes a bold statement when adorned with a favorite piece of art.

23. Do you have one of those bath and shower combos that don't quite reach to the ceiling? If you have a photograph that can withstand the steam and heat of the shower (behind glass or enclosed in a metal frame for example), hang it in this blank area to add interest.

24. Another idea for those heat and steam defiant pieces is to hang them above the stove as a backsplash. Just be sure you can wipe them clean.

25. If you have one of those big sterile bathroom mirrors you can all the time hang a photo in front of it to make it more appealing. Take a piece that will match the décor in your bath, find a complementary ribbon, and hang it in the town of the mirror (from the wall above). This will add interest while still leaving plentifulness of mirror to use.

Things to Make That Will Display Your Photos:

26. Take three large pieces of wood, hinge them together accordion style, cover them with fabric, and use them as a room divider screen. Hang photos, pictures and all kinds of other art on your "new wall".

27. Using the same idea, originate a small screen for in front of your fireplace. It is a great spot to hang seasonal art for the summer when the fireplace is not in use. Just be faithful to use flame retardant materials near working fireplaces.

28. Create a coffee table to display your photos. Purchase a table that fits with your décor, or use the one you already have, and get a piece of glass cut to the size of the table top. dispose your photos on the table, then lay the glass on top for a unique, beneficial and waterproof art gallery.

29. If you have a photograph or painting that is around 16 by 20 inches, make it into a side table. Attach the art to a piece of wood cut to the same size, then add legs you can buy at any home improvement store. Paint if you wish. Make sure you have the top covered in glass or Plexiglas, and you have an instant side table.

30. Create a shelf out of art. Take a piece of art or a extra photo and get a flat frame to put it in. Nail a small piece of wood that is the same width as the frame and a incorporate of inches deep to the bottom. Paint it the same color as the frame, hang the photo on your wall, and you are ready to accessorize with a small bud vase, dinky collectables, or even spices in the kitchen.

How to Build a Dog House Out of Wood

How to Build a Dog House Out of Wood

If you would like to build a dog house out of wood, you will need a few simple tools from your carport and the right wood to get started.

The supplies you will need include:

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

· One outside grade plywood sheet (about 4 feet by 8 feet and 5/8'' thick)
· Two 2''x4''x8' pressure treated boards
· One 2''x4''x8' untreated boards
· One box of 1-5/8'' galvanized deck screws
· One bundle of composite roof shingles
· One tube of wet/dry roof cement

The tools you need include:

· Hammer
· Tape measure
· Table saw or circular saw
· Drill
· Pen or pencil
· Caulking gun

When you begin constructing a dog house, you need to make sure it is large sufficient for the dog to comfortable turn around in, but small sufficient to keep their body heat close. If possible, raise the floor of the dog house off the ground to help insulate it from the cold.

The first thing you will need to establish is the base or foundation of the dog house. Because most dog houses sit directly on the ground, you will want to use pressure-treated wood to go under the dog house. Be sure to close them off from the dog so they can't chew on it. (Pressure treated wood contains harmful toxins). Frame out the base to the specifications you need. Then, nail the foundation together using penny nails. Drill 1'' holes in the sides of the base to allow moisture from the ground to evaporate and to forestall wood rot. Place small screens over the holes to forestall rodents and birds from getting in.

Cut out all the wood before you begin nailing it randomly to the base. The walls and roof should be cut at the same time. This way you can resolve if all the sides of the dog house are matching up to the roof and the base and are flush with each other. Cut out the wood after you have done proper measurements and you are sure it all fits. Now, attach the side frames to the base. Once you have attached the side frames, it is time to establish the roof frame. Using a forty five degree angle, cut the rafters and struts and attach them to the walls. You should now have a framed dog house.

Use your large piece of plywood for the walls and the roof. Attach the plywood and then you can begin shingling the roof. When you are shingling the roof, you can use the roof wet/dry cement, or you can use nails. If you use nails to attach the shingles, you need to bend the nails on the inside of the dog house to forestall your dog from getting scratched. Some building plans are designed to make the roof movable for easier cleaning. You can establish this type of roof by manufacture one side larger than the other and then use screws to attach them together. Use wet/dry cement in areas that look like a leak can come through. Instead of using rafters, you will just attach the roof to the walls. This isn't very strong and durable, so while the snowy months, you will have to come out and clean the snow off the roof.

Once your dog house is complete, you should paint it with weatherproof stain or paint. This will forestall water damage and it will protect the wood from rot. If you have any leftover carpet, place it inside the dog house and then place a used blanket on top, this will give your dog a tiny padding and extra insulation.

Level, Plumb And Square: advice On Mitering And Moldings

Level, Plumb And Square: advice On Mitering And Moldings

Today I would like to discuss with you the fundamentals of remodeling, either you are a seasoned pro, experienced do-it-your selfer, or just bob with a hammer:) level, plumb and quadrilateral are the foundation on which your project is built upon, this is especially true for carpenters and masons whose work relies upon these techniques. Over the years I have seen guys who did work such as framing out a basement and didn't use these principles. What they ended up with was doors that couldn't close, cracks and large gaps in the drywall, and numerous other problems that would have made a construction branch inspector call the cops.

If you are planning now or in the time to come to tackle a remodeling project, you must apply this or you will end up with a disaster and all your hard earned money will be wasted. Take bath additions, for example. Often you will have to frame out a wall or walls, it must be leveled properly, plumbed right, and squared. If you are tiling a wall all chalk lines must be level and in the case of floors, all things squared. In 2001 I had to redo a tile wall surround that a drunk handyman had installed and all things was so crooked that when you looked at it, you understanding you were going to keel over. Needless to say the homeowner was very angry, because they had to pay again to have it done over correctly.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Level, plumb and quadrilateral applies to, but not exiguous to, framing walls; installing cabinets; installing doors; ceramic tile installations; sub flooring; roofing; molding installations; counter tops; ceiling installations; brickwork; cement work; fencing; drywall; and the list goes on. Always remember to do your homework before tackling any remodeling project. Figure out which techniques of level, plumb and quadrilateral are needed for your single renovation. Apply them and I certify you will come out with a problem-free, expertly done job and not something right out of Beetle juice!

Remember, the hallmark of a professional job is how you cease it. All too often, there are great tradesmen and craftsmen who are good at what they do, but unfortunately lack the proper skills to cease the job nicely. One area where you can heighten your expertise is to learn how to miter and cope, especially with moldings. Mitering and coping are vital skills for cease carpentry and trim carpentry. Mitered moldings gives your job that concluded look, and makes it a project you can be proud of. Mitering is basically geometry, measuring and cutting exact angles.

You can start by practicing on scrap pieces of wood, with your miter saw ( which is a vital tool for home remodeling.) Try different degrees and learn the differences between face and inside miter cuts. For very difficult angles, use a protractor as they can give you the exact degree to cut. Start with shoe and base moldings, window and trim casings, to gain more taste and reliance with mitering. This will help you become comfortable before you move on to the big boys, especially that monster of the molding world, crown molding.

This is a molding that can be highly difficult to miter and cut, there are so many techniques that you must learn first before taking this head on. Many a novice cease carpenter has had nightmares about cutting crown, so if you would like to install it yourself but have yet to develop your mitering skills, then I propose coping. Coping is a technique where you trim back the profile of the molding, enabling it to butt seamlessly against a 90 degree angle. It is much simpler and faster to master than mitering, especially if you are installing crown.

One end is coped, and one end is butted, so you can butt and cope, butt and cope, and so on. This formula is great for rooms that have 90 degree angles, but for rooms that have unusual or odd angles, then you must miter. Remember, custom makes perfect, the more you do it, the great you will become!

All About Miter Wood Joints

All About Miter Wood Joints

Whenever two pieces of lumber, boards or trim meet or intersect, they must be fastened together in some fashion, this is the intuit for using joinery. obvious joints, or joinery methods are stronger than others, but some joinery methods are rather difficult to make.

Since there are dozen or more dissimilar methods of wood joinery, woodworkers can often select a recipe that fits their level of skill.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Some methods of wood joinery are much more complex than others, and need a great deal of woodworking skill. The joinery methods described here, include some of the more basic ones. With a tiny practice, the beginner should be able to scholar these methods with relative ease

The Miter Joint

A miter joint is used when two pieces of wood have (one of each) of their ends cut at angles of a obvious degree (the total amount of degrees for both angles will regularly be 90 degrees).... And are joined by butting the two mitered ends together and fastening them with small trim nails (brads), and/or glue.

These mitered ends are sometimes joined together with a "spline". A spline is a small piece of sharp metal, which aligns the mitered ends the spline is embedded into one of the mitered ends, and pressed into the end of the other piece of mitered wood.

Miter joints are ordinarily used in photo framing, and are the accurate recipe of joining two pieces of wood when they form an face corner, like trim.

Typical miter cuts especially, for photo frames are 45 degrees. The two 45 degree miter cuts will (of course) all the time total 90 degrees.

A Hexagonal or Oval Shaped Face

If this is the kind of facial structure you have, congratulations. This is what is known as a well balanced face that has perfect proportion. When shopping for the perfect set of lenses for this style of face, it is prominent that you do everything you can to keep things balanced. You want to choose lenses that are the same thickness at the top and the bottom, as well as ones that appear to give your face balance on the sides. With this facial structure, you have the most relaxation of anyone to use a style that is fun, exciting and new.

An Angular Triangle or Heart Shaped Face

If you have the type of facial structure that features a broad forehead but a sharp, pointed chin, it is said that you have a triangle or heart shaped face. You likely have high cheekbones and a marvelous chin. You will want to stick with frames that are light and highlight as microscopic material as possible. You have the perfect face for rimless glasses that highlight no top or lowest lines, simply a small piece of frame that goes from the side to the back of the ear.

A Round, Full Face

It is always been said that those with a round face always look happy and friendly. If you are lucky adequate to have this unique face style, than you should consider getting lenses that highlight your best features. consider getting angular lenses that highlight a distinctive, unique shape. Stay away from round or oval lenses as they will seem to blend in with the shape of your face. There are many dissimilar brands and types you can choose from, the final goal here should be to add sharpness and angles to your face since you don't have the bone structure for that yourself. Don't be afraid to take chances here.

A Square-style Face

You have probably figured out the pattern by now. Glasses need to add a highlight to your face that you don't already have. If you have a quadrate face, you should consider adding round lenses, or even Lennon specs (or as they are better known now as, Harry Potter-style eyeglasses). You could even go with an elongated oval style lens shape to help bring out your eyes and your more delicate features. You'll also want to go with a softer color. Avoid blacks and harsh silvers and go with a softer grey or colors like yellow or powder blue. Your frames should compliment your face while being illustrated adequate that people observation and appreciate them.

The Teardrop Style Face

If you aren't familiar with the teardrop style face, it is a shape that starts wide at the forehead and becomes less wide colse to the cheekbones only to widen back out at the jaw line. This is a very tasteless style of face and seeing the right style of glasses for it shouldn't be difficult. You will want to start with a strong and very illustrated top bar on your new frames. You will also want to find frames that have some kind of detail along the temple. It could be a design, a logo you like or some kind of stencil. This detail is used to give your face a degree of symmetry with your jaw. It wasn't that long ago that these types of frames were only found in the kids section but more and more top flight designers have created proper frames for this style of face.

The solitaire Style Face

If you have a narrow forehead that becomes wider colse to your temple only to form a V shape as it frames the rest of your face down to your chin, you have a solitaire style of face. Just like with the circular face, you will want a set of frames that highlight sharp angles. There are many dissimilar frames you can choose from that highlight irregular shapes. The more angles here the better as they add width to your face. You will also benefit from frames that use a strong top and lowest bar as they will make the top and lowest parts of your face look wider.

A Rectangular or Oblong Shaped Face

Our final facial style is probably the least tasteless of all of the ones listed here. An oblong shaped face is longer than it is wider and features very similar width at your jaw, your temple and your forehead. To help make this style of face seem more traditional, you will probably want to go with a set of lenses that is slightly wider than your face and one that are deep. You may also want to pick brighter colors to attract further concentration to your frames, so if you enjoy orange or yellow, they will compliment your face well.

As you can see, selecting the right pair of eyeglasses for your face isn't as complicated as it sounds. You simply have to recognize your facial style and then get a good idea of what frames look the best on you. The prominent thing here is to not be rushed when picking out a style of frame. Try on as many as you like and supervene the guide set forth here.
