Hanging photograph Frames - What You Need to Know

Hanging photograph Frames - What You Need to Know

Once you have the pictures framed, you're ready for the fun of getting your pictures up on the wall. Hanging pictures isn't hard but it does want a few steps to be done beforehand, like manufacture sure the frame has hardware on it and that you have a good idea of where you want to hang it. Then all you have to do is settle on how you want to hang it and get it done.

First let's talk about the different ways you can hang your photo frame. There are of course three basic ways with which to do this: screws, nails, or adhesives.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Nails

Hanging photo frames with finishing nails is an exquisite choice since the nails are easy to install and are small adequate so that they don't generate large holes on your wall. You want to hammer the nail into your wall at a 45 degree angle and if potential put them into a stud in the wall. If you're hanging large or slightly heavy frames you of course need to hammer the nails into a wall stud otherwise your photo frames will fall. If you're unsure how to uncover a wall stud, you can purchase an uncostly 'wall stud finder' at your local hardware store (or you can always tap on the wall until it sounds solid).

Screws

Hanging wall frames with screws can make larger holes and should only be considered, for the most part, when you're hanging frames to concrete, stone or brick walls. In this case, you would need to pre-drill a hole in the rock wall using a "mason" drill bit that is the correct size for the screw. You'll also want to use a screw anchor so that it's properly secured.

Adhesives

A hanging wall frame can also be secured by the third method: adhesive. Adhesives are gaining popularity fast since there's no need to put holes in the wall. 3M's Command Strip is one popular brand used for hanging photo frames and they come in the form of Velcro or hooks. These adhesive items are only designed to hang smaller pictures, but some can hold up to 5 lbs. Carefully read the instructions so you know if your photo frame is too heavy. If you try hanging photo frames that are too heavy, you'll risk damaging the photo frame.

Now that you've decided which technique is best for hanging wall frames in your home, now you need to determine where they should go.

Selecting Where to Hang Your photo Frames

If you're only hanging one or two frames, find man to help you. Have them hold the frame along the wall and adjust their position until you find the exquisite place. The ideal position for hanging photo frames is around eye level, or about ¾ the way up the wall. If these pictures are the only things that will hang on your wall, it makes your job super easy.

However, if you have other frames or items already on your wall, you'll want to make sure the spacing looks good. For complicated frames, it's a good idea to lay them down on the floor and see how they look together to get the best layout. To get your photo frames positioned just the way you want supervene these simple steps:

Take the measurements of the area of your wall where the photo frames will hang. Duplicate that space on the floor using a string as the border. Carefully place your photo frames on the floor (hopefully carpet) and move them around until you get a layout you like.his will keep you from putting a bunch of exiguous holes in your wall while you crusade for the exquisite placement. Once you have your layout, you may want to recruit some help to make the process go a exiguous faster. This will keep you from putting a bunch of exiguous holes in your wall while you crusade for the exquisite placement.  Once you have your layout, you may want to recruit some help to make the process go a exiguous faster.

Hopefully by using the right hardware and following these basic steps, you'll be able to hang your photo frames fast and of course and keep them hanging beautifully for years down the road.

Finishing Baseboard Trim

Finishing Baseboard Trim

Installing trim means you've already gotten through the toughest parts of remodeling a room. Factory of baseboard trim is something akin to icing on a cake and should be taken on as an enjoyable scheme that signals the end of what may have been a long, hard job. Along with wall and window trim, it's the finishing touch, the accent, the piece de resistance - and knowing this should help weighty you truly toward its completion. But don't get in such a hurry that you don't take care to do it right!

Finger-Joint or Continuous-Grain

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Before purchasing, conclude either or not you'll be painting or staining after the Factory of baseboard trim. This can make a unlikeness in the price of your trim. For baseboard that's going to be painted, you can buy the less-expensive finger-joint trim, which is molding created by joining and machining shorter pieces together to form one continuous distance of trim. The seams are visible, but very effectively covered by paint. If you conclude on staining the trim, however, you need to go with continuous-grained baseboard. This higher-priced baseboard trim costs more but results in an spicy continuity accentuated by the seamless grain of the wood brought out by stain. Do all painting and/or staining of the molding before installation.

Begin Factory of baseboard trim at an outside corner, if one is present, in the room. Otherwise, start at the wall on the opposite side of where the door going into the room is located. Because this is the first wall people see when they walk into a room, you want this one to have the best-looking baseboard possible. If you run short for some reason or the other on the other walls and need to splice pieces, it won't be nearly so evident.

Angled and quadrilateral Ends

Use a power miter saw for Factory of baseboard trim at inside and outside corners. A T-bevel can part odd angles that don't part what should be neat, 90-degree angles (but rarely are!) and when walls aren't quadrilateral to floors, baseboard trim can be coped to fit with a coping saw. For the first section of baseboard trim, the cut is simple: Make both ends square, no angle cutting is necessary. It's the subsequent, connecting pieces of baseboard that need to be fitted at either projection of this piece. Those two pieces also are angled only at those corners with their opposites ends being square. The remaining pieces of baseboard are cut with angled ends meeting quadrilateral ends until the room is finished.

Finishing Up

Use six-penny finishing nails to fasten the baseboard to the studs, which are normally about 16 inches apart along the wall. If you do not have a stud finder, tap along the wall and listen for the hollow versus solid sound that differentiates between a stud being there or not. To hide the nail heads or determined indentations made by the nails, fill with wood putty to match the stain or touch up with paint, as needed.

Scientists Are Cracking the Code of Sexual Chemistry and Attraction

Scientists Are Cracking the Code of Sexual Chemistry and Attraction

We have long used the word chemistry to enumerate how well two population get along in the wild world of dating. Little did we know how precise the use of that word was. Scientists are now production daily advances as they work at cracking the code of sexual chemistry and attraction. Some of the recent findings and products created based on them are astonishing.

Recent findings indicate that humans furnish very marvelous chemical substances known as pheromones. The chemical tricksters can not be seen, felt, or tasted, heard, or smelled, yet they have the power to make population react in positive ways. There is a small organ inside the nose that has, until recently, not been found to serve any beneficial purpose. This organ, called the vomeronasal organ, has been shown to process pheromones and stimulate the limbic region of the brain, causing exact emotional and corporeal responses. This discovery by scientists has helped in uncovering the code of sexual chemistry and attraction.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Dr. Virgil Amend has been studying the effects of human pheromones for many years. He recently introduced a topical combination of human pheromones for men that have been proven to have very marvelous effects on women. Using this combination of pheromones increases the sexual attraction women feel toward a man by any degrees, production it more likely that they will rejoinder favourably to his attention.

It has been suggested that one of the many reasons men and women do not have as much chemistry in the middle of them as they once seemed to, is that many of the pheromones that are regularly produced in the body are washed away by frequent bathing or overpowered by scented soaps and laundry detergents, perfumes, and colognes. These substances seem to mask general levels of pheromones.

Work continues on the project of cracking the code of sexual chemistry and attraction. Pheromones seem to be the largest key to unlocking the secrets of why population are attracted to one another sexually.

If you would like to learn more about chemistry and attraction and become a devotee of attracting gorgeous women, then waste no more time and visit my website to get your hands on my Free reports that has helped thousands of men seduce women they belief were out of reach.

The prep work prior to painting can be one of the most tedious chores about this type of project, cleaning the walls, patching the holes and cracks in walls seem endless. For holes Painters Nail Hole Filler has you covered, they manufacture a 4.5 fluid oz. Squeeze tube of nail hole filler that you just place over the hole, squeeze and wipe away the excess in one easy motion. It retails for roughly .50 each. This product is sold at most of the home improvement centers and has the same name as the company.

Most of the walls and ceilings in peoples home today are textured from an orange peel to a knock down finish. Acoustic ceilings were popular some years ago but all of them pose a question when a repair has been made and they lack the exterior texturing. Matching the texture has been difficult in the past since it required commercial equipment to apply these exterior finishes properly. Homax provides an easy clarification to this question with a line of finishes that span all of the popular textures of yesterday and today and are packaged in a convenient 10 or 12 fluid oz. Spray can. These products are known collectively as Easy Touch and can be found in most all hardware and home centers. They sell for in the middle of .00 & .00 and are quick and inexpensive clarification to this once difficult task.

Aqua-Tainer Co. Is one of those companies that staked their hereafter on offering inexpensive products that provide real value. Their products will make your next painting scheme easier, cleaner and quicker if you select to make use of their of their assorted product offerings. One of the biggest mistakes the midpoint homeowner makes when beginning a painting scheme is using the one gallon paint can as a paint bucket when they start the cutting-in process. The bucket is heavy and exposes the paint to the air and starts the drying process right in the can even before much of the paint has been applied. It also contributes to fatigue having to carry this heavy container of paint around. The paint can does a very poor job of cutting off the excess paint on the brush so you should avoid development this mistake. They have very good clarification for this question with their Trim & Cut-In cup it holds about a pint of paint and has a cut-off edge made right into the cup. It is light adequate so that retention the cup will yield slight if any fatigue and if it is dropped only a small whole of paint is lost and will be much easier to clean up. This product retails for .98 on average. They also have an additional one handy product with their P-38 five gallon bucket opener. It has been designed to open metal or plastic buckets and is a handy tool to use when you are handling these size containers. The best part is that it sells for only .97 and will save you the hassle of wrestling with chance these packaging so the cost is more than worth it.

If the last two products were not adequate they make a product called floor covering Shields each container comes with six three foot pieces for eighteen feet total of reusable shields. They are a masking strip that is inserted in the middle of the floor covering and the wall and protects the floor covering and moldings from paint splatter or an over zealous paint brush. They sell for an predicted low price of only .87 for all six pieces. Buy some and be done with it, again most of the major home centers and hardware shop will carry these products.

I hope this range through your popular home improvement town has been useful and informative. I have learned of many of these products through trial and error through the years and I find myself prowling the aisles of home centers just to stay abreast of the newest offerings. The advantage of using many of these low cost items is the time and hassle you save which relate to a less stressful scheme which can sometimes make the contrast in the middle of success and failure.

Bostitch F33PT 33-Degree Paper Tape Framing Nailer / Metal Connector Nailer Reviews

Framing, siding, decking, installing metal connectors, attaching wood to masonry, driving big nails into hard engineered lumber--you name it--this versatile and lightweight framing nailer from Bostitch does it all. Two nailers in one, this framing gun includes two quick-change nosepieces to convert the tool for either framing or metal connector applications. A factory installed sequential trigger and Bostitch’s exclusive Smart Trigger ensure optimal control and faster production.

Operating in either bump- or sequential-fire modes, the tool’s lightweight magnesium housing means easy handling and unsurpassed durability. Weighing just 7.9 pounds, the tool handles great in tight quarters like attics and during otherwise shoulder-burning overhead tasks. The innovative design is also a godsend when nailing top plates to floor joints or when crawling under that low deck to reinforce the new hot-tub. A patented push-button, depth-of-drive control of course means there’s no adjusting compressor pressure, but also that you don’t have to fumble for tools or awkward switches when you’re standing on a steep roof. Just set the compressor at 80 psi and adjust the depth as needed.

The unit drives 1-1/2-inch STRAPSHOT fasteners as well as all 1-1/2- and 3-1/2-inch metal connector nails measuring .131 to .162 inches in diameter. An interchangeable tip helps place nails accurately for metal connector applications. One of the most powerful framers in its class, this nailer offers 1,050 in./lbs. of driving power.

For less downtime and more productivity, a notched, 16-inch layout indicator on the magazine helps achieve correct distance between studs in a matter of seconds. And, bolt-on, steel wear guards with integrated rubber skid pads protect the tool from bumps and drops for unsurpassed durability and years of use. --Brian D. Olson

Remodeling Porches Is Easy

Remodeling Porches Is Easy

Remodeling porches can create great benefits for your home. This example from DoItYourself.com shows that you can make more of your outdoors with these fresh-as-air ideas that use paint, stain, and basic carpentry skills to spruce up a plain backyard. Mosquitoes, plus the desire to enjoy spring, summer, and fall relaxing outside, prompted the owners of an Atlanta, Georgia home to transform their back porch from a concrete slab to a screened-in showcase. The decision was simple; the explication wasn't quite so easy.

Though they knew they wanted to screen the existing back patio -- a quadrate of concrete tucked under a roof overhang -- complications arose. The porch needed to blend in with the existing house and still withstand the local insects, high humidity, and scorching summer temperatures. The concrete slab had a itsybitsy drop for rain runoff, so the homeowners had to trim the inside of the frame to fit that slope.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Here?s a step-by-step of what they did:

1. Cut the paneling. Pre-primed 4x8-foot sheets of beadboard ceiling paneling are cut to fit.

2. Setup the ceiling panels and fan. A nail gun makes quick work of installing ceiling panels and is easier than retention a panel while swinging a hammer. Before all of the paneling is installed, the ceiling is wired for a fan and light. The fan enables the homeowners to keep their porch 8 to 10 degrees cooler than the outdoors, while the light allows the porch to be used at night. One someone held the fan while the other connected the wires then screwed the fan into place. The ceiling's quit trim hides the seams in the paneling.

3. Frame the porch. The 2x4 frame of the homeowners' porch was sized to fit the standard-width screens that were installed later. Crosspieces can be whether nailed directly straight through the vertical braces or toenailed in place.

4. Attach interior paneling. A staple gun secures the interior pine-and-plywood beadboard paneling. Though the panels are level across the top, they had to be trimmed at the bottom to succeed the uneven concrete floor, which slopes to adapt rain runoff.

5. Attach and level outside paneling. The hardboard outside panels are added one at a time, from the bottom up. The builders custom-cut the first one to succeed the bumpy ground line. It took some institution tries to get the paint the same tone of pale yellow as the weathered version on the house. The weather-resistant outside paint requires only a washing with soap and water to voice its color.

6. quit off the screen. Vinyl grids are screwed directly into the wooden frame. The screens attach to the channels in these grids, creating a stapleless facility for fiberglass or aluminum screens. Once the screens are rolled into the grid channels using a spline, excess screen is simply trimmed off. A mallet snaps the caps over the vinyl channels and locks the screens in place.

Remodelling Porches Adds to Home Value

Remodelling Porches Adds to Home Value

During the time that contractors were building contemporary homes, the porch became a thing of the past, in many cases. But those who have a large, comfortable porch know that these straightforward parts of the home supply great benefits. Porches are a great place to relax during nice weather, and as some have found, porches are a desirable item for buyers when a home is on the real estate market.

For those who have an older home with an existing porch, remodelling porches can also be a plus. DoItYourself.com provides some excellent ideas for upgrading this fresh-air location with paint, wood stain and basic skills with a hammer and saw. For example, homeowners in the Atlanta area have transformed their straightforward concrete slab porches into screened-in areas that eliminated such annoyances as mosquitoes and summer heat. This straightforward repair/renovation greatly increased usable home space in spring, summer and fall.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

However, many homeowners found that deciding to upgrade the porch area was simple. The actual task was a bit more complex, though not impossible, obviously. Underlying plans called for putting screen walls colse to an existing patio behind the house. These areas are regularly a section of concrete at ground level, sometimes covered by a roof prolongation from the main part of the house. The problem, if there was one, was regularly production the new screened-in buildings blend with the home while protecting the occupants from heat, humidity and insects.

Because the customary concrete floor had a limited drop to allow rain to run off, one of the first tasks was to make sure the framing of the walls accounted for this. The basic steps for the task included:

o Cut panelling - 4x8-foot sheets of panelling for ceiling are cut to fit.

o Ceiling panels, wiring and fan are installed, using a nail gun instead of hammer for panels. This makes ceiling work much, much easier. Ceiling fans and light combinations keep the screened-in area much cooler and proper lighting provides for night use.

o Frame for walls is installed, using 2x4 lumber. Spacing allows for screens of thorough width to be installed.

o If desired, interior panelling pieces can be installed at this point. Some population prefer to use a market staple gun to hold the wall panelling pieces in place. Particular placement of panelling nails may work as well. At this point, the lowest of the wall panels may have to be trimmed to allow for the slope in the concrete floor.

o exterior exterior is installed near the end of the task in some cases. Many homeowners use "hard board" horizontal pieces, installed from the ground up. Again, it may be principal to cut the first section to fit with the ground line and concrete. Some homeowners found that matching paint color for the exterior of the new porch was one of the more difficult tasks. Others have a porch with walls made entirely of screen material.

o Final placement of screens, using vinyl "grids" for this purpose. These are attached to the wood frame and the screen material fits into channels. Newer designs allow for screens of aluminium or fibreglass to be installed without staples. Excess screen material can be trimmed. Caps are in case, granted to cover the channels, locking the screen in place.

This policy can supply an ideal location for house freedom or curious guests during beautiful spring, summer and fall weather.

Crown Molding - The Most common Mistakes of Installing Crown Molding

Crown Molding - The Most common Mistakes of Installing Crown Molding

So let me guess. You went out and bought some crown molding from your local hardware store and can't outline out how to cut the corners. Am I right?

The last time I bought any Crown Molding I paid colse to 10.00 per foot for it. It wasn't cheap! So every mistake you make on the miter is going to cost you at least 10 dollars.

Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

First I want to briefly go over the 5 most common mistakes when installing crown molding.

1. Mitering the corners at a 45 degree angle and assuming it will fit.
a. Crown Molding is not laid flat against the wall. It is easily angled when it is installed. Because of this it will not line up at a 45 degree angle.

2. Assuming there is only one angle needed at each miter cut.
a. Not only do you need to turn the horizontal angle of the blade but you will also need to turn the vertical angle. Depending on the type of saw you have will decree either you can do this or not. Most compound miter saws have this capability now, any way if you have an older saw you may not have this feature.

3. Using a hammer.
a. I know this one seems a microscopic strange so let me explain. I am writing this record for the beginner woodworker. So I am also assuming you don't have Tons of taste do this type of work. Like we talked about before crown molding is very expensive. It's also not the most durable wood. It's very thin and flimsy. Using a hammer without having a lot of taste will originate divots in the molding. These cannot be fixed. That's right you will have to buy yet someone else piece of wood.

4. Knowing where to place your nails on the wood.
a. There are only a few places to nail that will not crack the molding. What you need to keep in mind is this board is at an angle. If you shoot a nail in the middle of the board you will crack it if not break it. The best places to place your nails are at the top and bottom.

How To Properly Hang A photograph

How To Properly Hang A photograph

Are your pictures too high? Too low? Are there extra nail holes behind those family pictures on your wall from when you tried to "eyeball" it?

If you don't have the faintest idea how high a photograph should be hung on the wall, or know anything about grouping pictures or designing an arrangement, don't despair-- there is hope.

    Framing Nails Tool 21 Degree

Hanging a photograph sounds easy enough, but the reality is there are many elements to this deceptively easy process that can make it frustratingly difficult and leave you with a ridiculous number of holes in your wall from failed attempts. Luckily, there are a few tips that can help you avoid butchering your wall and almost certify your pictures will be sitting pretty.

First, remember that the center of a photograph should be at eye-level. This applies to a grouping of pictures, too, only using the center of the combined collaborative instead of the individual piece. Because height can vary dramatically from someone to person, the default estimation is almost 66 inches from the floor to the center of the object. There are exceptions to this rule, of course. For instance, if you are hanging a particularly large painting or mirror, 66 inches isn't all the time spatially correct. Adjust accordingly and with great prejudice. Remember, too much "eyeballing" can lead to too many holes.

Another good rule is to use two photograph hooks with photograph hanging wire on the back of your frame. This prevents shifting and tilting, so you won't have to be forever straightening your pictures. It also provides extra retain for heavy objects. To decree where to place your hangers, part and find the center of your picture. From this point, part equal length to a point that's about half to two-thirds the length of the picture. You will need to remember how far these hooks are settled apart from the center when ultimately driving the nail, so make sure you write it down or commit it to memory.

Now, the occasion of truth: hammering the nails (or drilling the screws, which may be a best selection for authentically heavy objects. Using wall anchors with screws to hang your art will by all means; of course keep things where they're supposed to be.) When deciding how high to hang your picture, don't forget to part it first and find its center. You will need to part from this point vertically to the wire and add x number of inches to 66 to allow for this space. Mark on the wall lightly with a pencil 66 inches from the floor where you want the center of the photograph to be. From there, you will use a level to mark two more places the length from the center to the photograph hooks (you wrote it down, remember?). This is where you want to put your nails. After you hammer them in, it's just a matter of hanging you picture!

If you have more than one photograph of the same size and need to repeat this process, it is easy to hang them together symmetrically. If you have complicated pictures of varying size, sketching out a mixture before trying to hang them is a good idea. It can help to visualize the smaller pictures as pieces of a larger whole.
